Job description

We are looking for highly analytical researchers who are comfortable undertaking both office and fieldwork. Hydrologists combine quantitative rigor with environmental curiosity to become water scientists. They adopt a holistic approach to studying water by placing it at the intersection of water, society, and government policy.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze surface and groundwater movement, distribution, and quality.
  • Determining water pollution levels.
  • Conduct field investigations, collect water and soil samples, and monitor hydrological conditions.
  • Measuring water properties to determine pH levels, volume, and flow.
  • Modeling data to predict the occurrences of floods, pollution, and water scarcity.
  • Determining the best means of water maintenance, management, and conservation.
  • Making use of historical data on water usage.
  • Assess the impact of climate change, land use, and pollution on water systems.
  • Provide technical reports, research papers, and policy recommendations.
  • Collaborate with environmental agencies, government bodies, and stakeholders.
  • Support infrastructure projects by evaluating water-related risks.
  • Use GIS and remote sensing tools to analyze hydrological data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master degree in Hydrology, geosciences, Civil engineering or related field.
  • 3+ Experience in hydrological research, water resource management, or related fields.
  • Proficient in mathematics and statistics.

  • Knowledge of GIS applications and remote sensing for hydrological studies.
  • Trained in data modeling and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of environmental law and government policy.
  • Experience with digital mapping software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and present findings.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and field research skills.
